about me

My name is Kate, Nottingham lass born and bred.

After a varied and interesting career over the last 20 years, I have worked in Marketing and as an EA for small, family owned businesses and most recently for a multinational corporate as well as running our family owned, local produce restaurant. I’ve always enjoyed my work but got to the point where I needed to put my family first, doing something that would give us all a better balance but most importantly something that would make them proud - something with true meaning.

During a visit to Cornwall, I visited an amazing zero waste shop and was instantly inspired and knew that was it - I was going to do this in my own community! The whole project was crowd-funded and the target was smashed by the help and support of the neighbourhood I live in, this in itself reassured me that what I was doing was going to be a success from the start - all the supporters had a vested interest in making this work and they are still my most loyal and regular customers.

Still a relative newcomer on my journey to caring for the world in the way it deserves, I’m trying my best and learning from my customers all the time.  As a parent, I have a vision for the kind of world I want my children to grow up in and the Good Weigh is helping to make that a reality.

By choosing to shop some or all your everyday groceries at the Good Weigh you are casting a vote for the kind of world you wish to live in.  Surely, we all want that world to be sustainable, cleaner and thriving for our children and future generations.
